Slate
What Makes It Unique?
The Texture: It is famous for its natural split (cleft) finish. Because slate is a metamorphic rock formed from layers of shale and clay, it splits beautifully along its natural planes. This leaves a rugged, slip-resistant texture that is highly prized for flooring.
Extreme Durability: African slate is highly dense, meaning it has an incredibly low water absorption rate. This makes it naturally resistant to frost, stains, and heavy foot traffic.
Thermal Properties: Like most high-quality slates, it acts as a great thermal mass. It retains heat well, making it a fantastic companion for underfloor heating systems in winter, while remaining cool to the touch in the summer.
